Kim Delaney was an American actress from America. She is most famous for her role as Detective Diane Russell, in the ABC show NYPD Blue. For this she won an Emmy Award. Her credits include All My Children Philly CSI: Miami and Army Wives. Delaney was the only daughter of a United Auto Workers executive and his wife who was a housewife. Her upbringing was in a family with four other brothers. As a child she longed to be an official in the courtroom. After graduating from high school and relocating into New York in the 1980s then she started modeling. The role she was given was that of an innocent child in the 1981 soap-opera All My Children. Delaney, a young actress who was in her 20s, appeared in a variety of TV films and dramas. Like her career however, her private life has not been happy or successful. There were two unsuccessful marriages and struggled with addiction issues. In 2005 she lost the custody of her son.
